Logan Square is a district that is full of artists and musicians. It’s basically a place where people hang out as they search for the next cool trend. They’ve got cocktail bars filled with people watching bands or playing arcade games. There are homes and buildings downtown that show vintage history. And of course, you can find a variety of eateries like noodle shops, pizza places, coffee shops, and the Sunday Farmers Market.

Logan Square Architecture

Historically, Logan Square is known for its beautiful buildings. In 1926, the Congress Theater opened. The front of the building is made of terra cotta and displays Baroque ornamentation (a decorative, theatrical style). Their arched windows and columns glitter with angels, guardian falcons, trumpeters, lute players, mermaids, and flamingos. If you’re into Neoclassical architecture, the Congress Theater is the place to find it.

As you adventure through Logan Square, you’ll find art deco, Parisian style, Gothic, limestone, and even modern and urban buildings scattered throughout.

Another notable building is the Norwegian Lutheran Church, built by immigrants in 1912. It features Gothic architecture including stained glass windows and red brick. It’s an important part of the Norwegian community as it is the only church in Chicago that still holds services in the Norwegian language.
